One of the best times of the year is here for college students which is a spring break. First half of the semester has passed and most of the midterms are over, it is now time for a well-deserved college spring break.

Want to know where most students are going? See my post on best destinations for spring break.

Your spring break is here and you have things like flight, hotels, friends you are going with figured out, now you need to know how much and what to pack for your trip. Make your spring break a quick, no hassle through airport one and make the most out of your time!

Airport

This days, buying a flight ticket is easy and maybe you were able to get a smoking deal on it! But, what many people and not just students don’t realize is how airlines policies work this days. It is very important to do your research on airlines baggage policy. Last thing you want is to pay for your luggage at the gate as much as your flight costed you itself. This happens every day and those budget airline companies are racking up lost amount of money on cheap tickets by charging for luggage or even food.

Hotel

Where you are staying is just as important as getting there. If you already have hotel ready and all set up, then move to the next topic. If not, I use booking.com and highly recommend you to check it out. Don’t worry, you don’t need to pack much of amenities because hotel you are staying at will most likely provide necessities such as soap, shampoo and coffee machine

Duration

I used to be a person that will bring a whole suitcase for 5 days travel and now just looking back I laugh at that mistake. Know where you are going and what you will need according to the weather. If you are going to Cancun you don’t need to pack 5 pairs of shoes or 3 jackets, pack for every day and honestly flip flops and a pair of shoes will do in Cancun for a week. Ever seen people downsizing their luggage at the airport? don’t be one of those people.

Necessary Items

You need to have a list in mind what you need exactly in this trip. Things that are necessary like glasses, prescription medicine, etc… Think of the things you use daily that will be hard to get at the place you are going.

Absolute BEST Backpack and Luggage

eBags TLS Mother Lode Weekender Convertible ($129.99)

Cannot recommend this backpack more than enough. There are also different color for your to choose your favorite. I have moved on with carrying luggage and gotten this one and it is absolutely the best back pack out there. This backpack is one of the best investments you can make for your travels. It fits it all and haven’t had a problem even once with its size (dimensions are 21 by 5 in).

Also consider foldable backpack when you are out and about without carrying your traveling backpack

Here is the look inside:

Yes, inside it looks just like your luggage but you can carry it as a backpack.

If you are not interested in this backpack then consider another option as a luggage which I still have and it is hard shelled to protect the inside.

Here are things to get you started and you should consider bringing with you for spring vacation (just because most of us are heading towards the beach for our spring break, I will focus on that)

  • Sunglasses
  • Cell Phone
  • Ticket(s)- traveling or events that you might be attending
  • Wallet (have some cash for emergency)
  • Gum
  • Headphones
  • ID
  • Snacks
  • Charger
  • A beach read
  • Beach towel
  • Razor
  • Moisturizer
  • Toothbrush
  • Sunscreen
  • Deodorant
  • Advil 🙂 (You know what I mean)
  • First aid kit

Bottom Line

Spring break is exciting time for us and in order not to break a bank as we already have, we must follow simple principles to budget traveling.I am wishing everyone a happy Spring Break and enjoy the time, forget about school completely.
